Overview

The DVB-T / DVB-H Modulator OEM Board offers the advantage of generating a complete DVB-T or DVB-H signal on just one board, which can be conveniently installed inside a DVB-T or DVB-H Transmitter. The DVM 2000 OEM Modulator board is designed to meet the most demanding requirements of today’s Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcast Market. A key factor in the product success is the quality of the coding and modulation process.

IF Output

The output is an IF COFDM signal, on a user defined frequency between 35 and 37 MHz. Inverted/non-inverted spectrum is selectable. The spectrum bandwidth may be user configured to 8, 7, 6 or 5 MHz, as required. The IF output can be directly interfaced to a wide range of transmitters and frequency converters.

Inputs

The DVM 2000 OEM Modulator board has two MPEG inputs (ASI format). The user can select one input, or both inputs; for two inputs, the modulator card supports near seamless switching to a secondary transport stream, in case the primary transport stream source fails. Two inputs are also used for the Hierarchical mode of operation.

Control

Local and remote control supported through the RS232 serial port, using a command protocol based on SCPI commands.

Optional Features

SFN

This option provides the DVM 2000 with market leading SFN performance, with respect to basic timing accuracy and extent of the local delay off set range.

Hierarchical Modulation

Hierarchical Modulation allows simultaneous transmission of two MPEG transport streams. This option can be used to provide simultaneously two services: DVB-H and DVB-T, where DVB-H service is provided via the High Priority (HP) channel, while DVB-T service via the Low Priority (LP) channel.

DVB-H

This option allows the Modulator to generate a DVB-H COFDM signal, in accordance with the ETSI DVB-H standards.

Digital Linear and Non-linear Pre-corrector

The Non-linear pre-corrector balances out gain and phase non-linearity in the transmitter RF power amplifier. The linear pre-corrector balances out level and group delay. The pre-correction curves are set by the UBS Corrector GUI software package (Windows compatible).

5 & 6 MHz Bandwidth

The DVB-T / DVB-H Modulator can generate the output signal in a 6MHz BW or in a 5MHz BW (recommended for DVB-H mode).
