Description
The UBS UBport™SKY DVB-H Satellite Network Gateway is part of the UBport™ family of optimized network adapters for wireless digital multimedia systems. UBport™SKY introduces UBS Statistical Aggregation™ technology to significantly improve satellite backhaul efficiency from head end to terrestrial repeater stations.
UBS Statistical Aggregation™ eliminates payload redundancies by overlaying DVB-H services into content specific deliveries for national and local services. National or global content is sent once for use in multiple local SFN or MFN delivery networks.
UBport™SKY features a multi-channel IP Encapsulator with UBS Dynamic Time Slicing™. This enables the DVB-H stream to fully take advantage of variable bitrate encoders further improving payload efficiency.
In addition, all DVB-H transport data is aggregated for increased efficiency in the DVB-S/S2 transport. Payload savings can range from 25% to 90% depending on overall network topology!
UBport™SKY enables operators to deliver more channel and program choices to their viewers without increasing payload requirements and costs.
